Batch Speech Inunion '08
Sunday, March 29, 2009 @ 11:57 AM
Just for the record. So we may look back next time.
Yi Xian: A very good evening to all. My name is Yi Xian,
Zhao Chong: and I’m Zhao Chong.
Yi Xian: Thank you all for coming here on this beautiful evening to show your support for us—the latest additions to the RGSSB family! Today, we are greatly honoured to be able to stand here and make this speech on behalf of all our batchmates.
This…is not an acceptance speech. It is, in fact, a celebratory one: one that marks our progress thus far, as well as our transition from recruits to members of the main band. At the same time, we take this as an opportunity to pledge our allegiance to this demanding yet fulfilling commitment. It has been a long, memorable journey being in the recruit band under the watchful and nurturing eyes of Mr. Wilson Ong.
Zhao Chong: Besides signifying the end of our days in the recruit band, Inunion has also marked our start on a new journey in the main band as well—one filled with challenges, heightened standards and soaring expectations. After spending the last few months or so familiarising ourselves with the fast pace of the main band, all of us hold nothing in our hearts but love for this band, and all its members. The paths that we take may be fraught with obstacles, but we certainly will continue to persist no matter what.
Of course, all of you have helped us throughout this difficult phase in various ways. We are very grateful for what all of you have done for us, and could simply not have done without any of your support and guidance.
Yi Xian: Thank you, Mr. Ong and instructors, for your unwavering support throughout our early months in band, and for your tolerance for our antics. We truly appreciate your patience and supervision, which has aided us greatly in improving our playing. Your words of encouragement and sense of humour never ceased to lighten up our mood. As a batch, we had a truly enjoyable experience in recruit band. We sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Zhao Chong: Thank you Mr. Oura for being accommodating in allowing us time to practice for Inunion. During these past few months of gruelling practices with the main band, you have taught us a valued lesson in music-- the importance of playing with expression and literally ‘pouring our souls into music’. This has in turn enabled us to perform with greater maturity. We truly appreciate all that you have done for us.
Yi Xian: Another group of people whom we wish to thank is our seniors and directs. All of us are indebted to your invaluable guidance and advice. To every one of you who have pinned high hopes on us, conscientiously setting aside time to guide us periodically… thank you so much. Nothing has ever mattered more to us than having the privilege of your faith and guidance.
Zhao Chong: Of course, we would not forget our teachers-in-charge! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for always being there to help us out, be it in administrative matters or just to give us encouragement to keep us going.
Yi Xian: Last but not least—we are very thankful to our family members, who have stood by us through the many ups and downs experienced during this course. The transition from recruit band to main band may have been a demanding one, but your support never wavered. We cannot adequately express how deeply indebted we are to you, and have never been more blessed for the love and encouragement you have provided us.
Zhao Chong: Once again, on behalf of our batchmates, we sincerely thank all of you for your support on this evening. Rest assured that we will never forget what you have taught us, and will do our best not to disappoint you!
Yi Xian: To those who wonder if the passion our seniors have for this band will continue to burn in our time, who question the power of our resilience, we promise you that tonight … you shall find your answer
Love,
Yi Xian
Three!
